Government official: At least 46 people died in the Indonesia earthquake

According to an Indonesian government official, at least 46 people were killed in an earthquake that shook Indonesia's major island of Java on Monday ,Nov 21

The earthquake's epicentre was on land in Cianjur, about 75 kilometres southeast of Jakarta, at a depth of 10 kM

According to reports, the West Java town was the hardest struck by the tremor, with over 700 people injured.

"According to the most recent data, 46 individuals were killed. Victims continued to arrive from all over. 

Approximately 700 persons were injured "Herman Suherman, the chairman of Cianjur's administration, reported Kompas TV.

He previously told Metro TV that several of the injured "had fractures from being trapped by building ruins."
