Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced to over 11 years in jail for her role in the Theranos scandal.

A federal judge sentenced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes to 11 years and three months in prison on Friday for cheating investors in her now-defunct blood-testing firm

which had a $9 billion valuation at the time.

U.S. District Judge Edward Davila sentenced Holmes, 38, on three counts of investor fraud and one count of conspiracy in San Jose

California, after a jury convicted her last January following a three-month trial. The prosecution had proposed a 15-year prison sentence, while the defence had urged the judge to impose a shorter sentence.
