Do You Really Want to Rebuild at the Age of Eighty?

Melissa and Guy Hoagland, both retired physicians in their 60s, had spent a decade dividing their time between their homes on a barrier island in Florida

And Half Moon Bay, a small coastal city in the San Francisco Bay Area.

However, the couple was forced to sell both residences due to the worsening drought and wildfires in Northern California

As well as the increasing hurricanes and storm surges along the Southeastern coastline.

After selling their West Coast property and considering a permanent transfer to Southern California, the Hoaglands moved into a rental house in San Diego in 2019.

However, climate threats like as drought and increasing sea levels put a halt to that idea as well.
